Peripheral Neuropathy Treatment in Oregon City

If your feet burn at night, your hands have gone numb, or you've started to feel unsteady on your own two feet, you already know how much peripheral neuropathy can take over a day.

You're not imagining it. And there may be more you can do about it than you've been told.

Family Care Acupuncture in downtown Oregon City offers a conservative, non-drug approach to the symptoms of peripheral neuropathy — for patients who want to try something beyond medication, and for those who've been told there's nothing left to do.

Do you have these symptoms?

  • Burning, tingling, or "pins and needles," usually in the feet or hands

  • Numbness that makes it hard to feel the floor, your buttons, or your own footsteps

  • Sharp, stabbing, or electric pains that come out of nowhere

  • Balance trouble, or a feeling that you might fall

  • Symptoms that get louder at night and steal your sleep

If so, you're in the right place.

Who we help

We treat the three most common forms of peripheral neuropathy:

  • Diabetic peripheral neuropathy — nerve symptoms related to blood sugar over time

  • Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) — numbness, tingling, and burning that linger after cancer treatment

  • Idiopathic neuropathy — when the cause hasn't been pinned down, but the symptoms are very real

How acupuncture helps

Acupuncture is a conservative, non-pharmacologic option for nerve-related symptoms — no added medications, no new side effects to manage.

Natalie Mich, LAc, holds Advanced Peripheral Neuropathy Certification through the Acupuncture Now Foundation and treats neuropathy using a standardized protocol.

A growing body of published research has examined acupuncture for neuropathy, with encouraging results for symptoms like numbness, tingling, and burning.  Many patients begin to notice changes within the first 2–4 weeks. Everyone responds differently, and we'll talk honestly with you about what to expect for your situation.

What to expect

  • A real first visit. We start with a full consultation, review your history, and build a treatment plan around your symptoms and goals.

  • A gentle, drug-free approach. Acupuncture needles are very thin — most people are surprised by how little they feel.

  • Progress we track together. We check in on your symptoms as we go and adjust the plan based on how you're responding.

  • Care that fits with your medical team. We're glad to coordinate with your doctor, and we'll refer you on if something needs further evaluation.

Acupuncture works alongside your medical care — not in place of it.

Have insurance? Let's check it before you come in.

We're in-network with most major Oregon plans — Providence, PacificSource, UnitedHealthcare, Moda, Regence, Oregon Health Plan (OHP), and others — plus auto insurance after a car accident.

One note: standard Medicare does not cover acupuncture at this office. If you're on Medicare, call us anyway — we'll tell you exactly what your options are, including coverage through a supplemental or auto-injury plan.

Not sure what you've got? Call or text 503-868-1496 and we'll verify your specific benefits before your first visit — no surprises.

Frequently asked questions

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people are surprised by how comfortable it is. The needles are about the width of a hair — far thinner than the needles used for shots or blood draws. Many patients relax so deeply they fall asleep.

How many treatments will I need?

It depends on your symptoms and how long you've had them. We'll outline a plan after your first visit. Many patients begin noticing changes in symptoms like numbness, tingling, and burning within 2–4 weeks, though individual response varies. Nerve symptoms are slow to shift, so we generally plan for a course of at least 10 weeks before evaluating your progress.

Can acupuncture help neuropathy from chemotherapy?

Yes — chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is one of the conditions we treat. We focus on easing the numbness, tingling, and burning that can linger after treatment, and we work in coordination with your oncology team.

Do I need a referral to come in?

No referral is needed — you can schedule directly. If you'd like, we're happy to coordinate with your primary care provider, neurologist, or specialist as part of your care.

Do you take my insurance?

We're in-network with most major Oregon plans, including Providence, PacificSource, UnitedHealthcare, Moda, Regence, and OHP.
