Family Care Acupuncture in downtown Oregon City offers a safe, non-drug approach to stress, anxiety, and sleep — for people who want to feel more like themselves, alongside the care they already have.

Do you have these symptoms?

  • Trouble falling asleep, or waking at 2 or 3 a.m. and staying up

  • Waking up tired no matter how long you were in bed

  • A racing mind, constant worry, or feeling on edge

  • Tight chest, clenched jaw, or shoulders that never drop

  • Stomach upset, headaches, or tension that flares with stress

  • Feeling wired and exhausted at the same time

  • Relying on sleep aids more than you’d like

If so, you're in the right place.

Who we help

We commonly work with patients experiencing:

  • Insomnia — trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or both

  • Everyday stress and burnout — work, caregiving, life piling up

  • Anxiety — alongside your therapist, doctor, or medication, not instead of them

  • Stress that shows up in the body — tension, headaches, digestive upset

  • Hormone-related sleep changes — perimenopause and menopause, often alongside our women’s health care

How acupuncture helps

Acupuncture offers a non-pharmacologic option without adding another medication or medication-related side effects.

In a randomized trial published in JAMA Network Open, people with insomnia and depression who received electroacupuncture along with their usual care slept better than those who got sham acupuncture or usual care alone — and the improvement held six months later.

The research on acupuncture for anxiety is more limited. Some studies show benefit, but the evidence isn't as strong — so we track your symptoms closely and are honest about what's changing.

Many patients say they feel noticeably calmer after a session. Sleep changes usually take a few weeks. Individual results vary.

Some patients also benefit from Chinese herbs chosen for their pattern. We check herbs against any medications you take, and we don't use herbs during pregnancy or with a history of cancer.

What to expect

  • A real first visit. We start with a full consultation, review your history, and build a treatment plan around your symptoms and goals.

  • A gentle, drug-free approach. Acupuncture needles are very thin — most people are surprised by how little they feel.

  • Progress we measure, not guess at. We track how you're sleeping, how often you wake, and how wound-up you feel, visit to visit.

  • An honest answer. Acupuncture isn't the right fit for everyone. If I don't think it will help you, I'll tell you.

  • Care that fits with your medical team. Keep taking your medications as prescribed and keep seeing your therapist or doctor — we work alongside them.

Acupuncture isn't a substitute for mental health care. If you're having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), any time. If you're in immediate danger, call 911.

Have insurance? Let's check it before you come in.

We're in-network with most major Oregon plans — PacificSource, UnitedHealthcare, Moda, Regence, Oregon Health Plan (OHP), and others.

One note on Medicare: standard Medicare doesn't cover acupuncture for these conditions. Some Medicare Advantage plans do include acupuncture benefits, so call us and we'll check yours. If you're paying out of pocket, ask about our self-pay options — we accept HSA and FSA cards, and payment plans are available.

FAQ

Will I feel relaxed after a session?

Most people do — many say it's the most relaxed they've felt all week. Lasting changes in sleep and stress build over several visits.

How many treatments will I need?

We'll outline a plan after your first visit and track your sleep and symptoms as we go. For anxiety, stress, and sleep, plan on weekly visits for 4–6 weeks in a row to see a shift. Then we space visits out as things settle. Individual results vary.

Can I keep taking my anxiety or sleep medication?

Yes. Don't stop or change medications without talking to your prescriber.
