Neck Pain Treatment in Oregon City

If you can't turn your head to check your blind spot, your shoulders live up by your ears, or your neck pain keeps turning into headaches, you already know how much it can take over a day. You're not imagining it. And there may be more you can do about it than stretching, pills, and waiting it out.

Family Care Acupuncture in downtown Oregon City offers a safe, non-drug approach to neck pain — for patients who want to try something beyond medication, and for those who've been told to just live with it.

Do you have these symptoms?

  • A stiff, aching neck that's worst in the morning or after screen time

  • Trouble turning your head — especially checking your blind spot while driving

  • Tight shoulders and upper back that never fully let go

  • Tension headaches that start at the base of your skull

  • Pain, tingling, or numbness that travels into your shoulder or arm

  • Neck pain that keeps you from getting comfortable at night

If so, you're in the right place.

Who we help

We commonly work with patients experiencing:

  • Chronic neck pain — pain that's lasted three months or longer

  • Desk and screen neck — posture strain, tight shoulders, and tension headaches

  • Whiplash and car-accident injuries — we accept PIP auto insurance

  • Pinched-nerve symptoms — pain or tingling into the shoulder or arm

How acupuncture helps

Acupuncture offers a non-pharmacologic option without adding another medication or medication-related side effects.

In a large trial published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, patients with long-term neck pain who received acupuncture reported about a third less pain a year later — significantly more improvement than with usual care alone.

Some patients notice changes in their first several visits. Neck pain that's built up over years often takes longer to change, and individual results vary.

What to expect

  • A real first visit. We start with a full consultation, review your history, and build a treatment plan around your symptoms and goals.

  • A gentle, drug-free approach. Acupuncture needles are very thin — most people are surprised by how little they feel.

  • Progress we measure, not guess at. We track your pain levels and how far you can actually turn and move — checking your blind spot, looking down at a screen, sleeping — from visit to visit.

  • An honest answer. Acupuncture isn't the right fit for everyone. If I don't think it will help you, I'll tell you.

  • Care that fits with your medical team. We're glad to coordinate with your doctor, and we'll refer you on if something needs further evaluation.

Acupuncture works alongside your medical care — not in place of it. If your neck pain comes with fever and a stiff neck, new weakness or numbness in your arms or hands, trouble with balance or walking, or follows a fall or crash that hasn't been checked, see a doctor right away.

Have insurance? Let's check it before you come in.

We're in-network with most major Oregon plans — PacificSource, UnitedHealthcare, Moda, Regence, Oregon Health Plan (OHP), and others — plus auto insurance after a car accident.

One note on Medicare: standard Medicare doesn't cover acupuncture for neck pain. Some Medicare Advantage plans do include acupuncture benefits, so call us and we'll check yours. If you're paying out of pocket, ask about our self-pay options — we accept HSA and FSA cards, and payment plans are available.

FAQ

How many treatments will I need?

It depends on your symptoms and how long you've had them. We'll outline a plan after your first visit, track your progress as we go, and space visits out as you improve. Individual response varies.

Can acupuncture help my tension headaches?

Many neck-pain patients come in for the headaches that ride along with it. We treat the neck and shoulders together and track your headache frequency as we go. Individual results vary.

My neck pain is from a car accident. Can you bill auto insurance?

Yes. We accept Personal Injury Protection (PIP) for whiplash and other car-accident injuries. Call us with your claim information and we'll get it set up.
