Low Back Pain Treatment in Oregon City
If getting out of bed takes a minute, sitting through a drive hurts, or you've started planning your day around your back and a heating pad, you already know how much low back pain can take over. You're not imagining it. And there may be more you can do about it than another round of muscle relaxers and waiting it out.

Family Care Acupuncture in downtown Oregon City offers a safe, non-drug approach to low back pain — for patients who want to try something beyond medication, and for those who've been told to just live with it.
Do you have these symptoms?
-
A dull, constant ache across your lower back
-
Stiffness that's worst in the morning or after sitting
-
Sharp pain when you bend, lift, twist, or stand up
-
Pain that travels into your hip, buttock, or down your leg
-
Back pain that wakes you up or keeps you from getting comfortable
If so, you're in the right place.
Who we help
We commonly work with patients experiencing:
-
Chronic low back pain — pain that's lasted three months or longer
-
Sciatica — pain, tingling, or numbness that travels from the low back into the leg
-
Strains and flare-ups — from lifting, yard work, sports, or a car accident (we accept PIP)
How acupuncture helps
Acupuncture offers a non-pharmacologic option without adding another medication or medication-related side effects.
The American College of Physicians' clinical guideline for low back pain lists acupuncture among the non-drug treatments to try first for chronic low back pain.
Some patients notice changes in their first several visits. Back pain that's built up over years often takes longer to change, and individual results vary.

What to expect
-
A real first visit. We start with a full consultation, review your history, and build a treatment plan around your symptoms and goals.
-
A gentle, drug-free approach. Acupuncture needles are very thin — most people are surprised by how little they feel.
-
Progress we measure, not guess at. We track your pain levels and what you can actually do — sitting, bending, sleeping — from visit to visit.
-
An honest answer. Acupuncture isn't the right fit for everyone. If I don't think it will help you, I'll tell you.
-
Care that fits with your medical team. We're glad to coordinate with your doctor, and we'll refer you on if something needs further evaluation.
Acupuncture works alongside your medical care — not in place of it. If your back pain comes with loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin, fever, or leg weakness that's getting worse, see a doctor right away.
Have insurance? Let's check it before you come in.
We're in-network with most major Oregon plans — PacificSource, UnitedHealthcare, Moda, Regence, Oregon Health Plan (OHP), and others — plus auto insurance after a car accident.
One note on Medicare: Original Medicare covers acupuncture for chronic low back pain only when it's billed through a Medicare-enrolled physician, PA, or NP — it can't pay a licensed acupuncturist directly, and we don't bill Original Medicare. Some Medicare Advantage plans do include acupuncture benefits, so call us and we'll check yours. If you're paying out of pocket, ask about our self-pay options — we accept HSA and FSA cards, and payment plans are available.
Not sure what you've got? Call or text 503-868-1496 and we'll verify your specific benefits before your first visit — no surprises.

FAQ
How many treatments will I need?
It depends on your symptoms and how long you've had them. We'll outline a plan after your first visit, track your progress as we go, and space visits out as you improve. Individual response varies.
I have sciatica. Can acupuncture help?
Many patients with sciatica come to us for pain, tingling, or numbness running into the hip or leg. We'll ask about your history and imaging, and if anything suggests you need further evaluation first, we'll tell you.
My back pain is from a car accident. Can you bill auto insurance?
Yes. We accept Personal Injury Protection (PIP) after a car accident. Call us with your claim information and we'll get it set up.
